Deirdre Cartwright

This item was included in the November broadcast, in Ursula Troche’s programme Artbeat.

For over 25 years now, Deidre Cartwright has been one of the very few women to become a professional electric guitarist. Melissa James, who is a singer, went to talk to Deidre at her home. She was treated to a live performance, a track called ‘Afro Blue’, which you’ll hear first. She then began the interview by telling Melissa about her childhood and climb to the professional circuit in what is still a man’s world. Click on the link to listen.
